Antigua and Barbuda gave world cricket one of its greatest players. Sir Vivian Richards, born in St. John's, captained the West Indies through the 1980s without ever losing a Test series, and is still ranked among the finest batsmen the game has known. It is a small, human example of the same idea this whole hemisphere is built on, that one nation's talent can end up inspiring everyone.
The national motto, "Each Endeavouring, All Achieving," was written to capture exactly that spirit. It is a small piece of wisdom shared across the Americas in a hundred different words, the same common ground this whole project stands on.

Antigua's 365 beaches offer clear turquoise water and easy access, so no two days need look the same. Barbuda's Frigate Bird Sanctuary in Codrington Lagoon is one of the largest colonies of these birds anywhere, reachable only by boat. Nelson's Dockyard in English Harbour, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the only continuously working Georgian era dockyard left in the world. Antigua Sailing Week each spring fills the harbors with color and competition.
